DistrictDollars for iPhone
The same numbers as this site, the same things we refuse to show, and one thing a browser cannot do: the districts nearest to where you are standing at an open house.
What it does
- Search 19,000 districts and read the full profile — the dollar three ways, where every dollar goes, staffing, stability risk, enrolment requirements read from the district's own site and quoted.
- Compare any two, side by side, in the same state or across state lines, with the cross-state comparisons we will not make named on the page.
- Districts near you. Ranked by distance to each district's reported centre point — which is not the same as the boundary you are inside, and the app says so above the list rather than letting you assume otherwise.
- Who decides, and what it costs you. The board, how they got there, and the bond and levy measures voters have actually been asked to approve.
- Save the districts you are choosing between, so the app opens on them instead of an empty search box.
What it does not do
- No account. There is nothing to sign into.
- No advertising, no analytics, no third-party SDKs of any kind.
- Your saved and recently viewed districts stay on the phone. We cannot see them.
- It asks for your location once, only when you tap "districts near me", and rounds it to about 110 metres before asking our server anything. The privacy policy says exactly what is sent and what is kept.
Not on the App Store yet
It is built and it runs; it has not been through review. There is no download link here because there is nothing to link to, and a greyed-out badge is just a slower way of saying the same thing.
